Wow, It's Been A While

# | posted: Sunday, February 25, 2007 | updated: Sunday, February 25, 2007

I didn't mean to leave this site for so long. Life just seemed to take over last fall. So what's been happening? I've been playing Warhammer 40k pretty heavy since the end of 2006. I'm so addicted! It's fast, graphics are incredible. I'm hoping to be able to play online in a couple of months, I'm still working on some strategy experiments yet. Reading through some of the gamer sites has me feeling that I'm just not ready yet. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend it. Especially if you are a Command and Conquer fan.

Now Here's A Site I can Get Into

2 Old 2 Play, for gamers over 25. Since I'm way over 25, I'm hoping I'll fit in. It features a downloadable, monthly magazine, community and contests...

Been a while...

I've been playing a log of Command and Conquer Generals lately. Great game! I bought the deluxe addition. Excellent graphics and all. I've loved the C and C universe since it first came out many years ago.

I'm well over the minimum requirements for this game, but man it can bog down my box at times. Not sure what the problem is there, it seems to have to do with the complexity of the map itself. If anyone knows anything, drop me a post or something.

Here's a couple of nice C and C Generals sites: Command and Conquer Generals World and Command and Conquer Den. I've downloaded a few maps from the den. The Cheyenne Mountain map is great.

I'm back finally

I've been away from UT for a while. I was playing C & C Generals for a few weeks end then my computer crashed and I had to do a re-install of the OS. So I'm back to picking up some UT games and all my favorites servers have changed. I can't even find some of them. Nor can I find some of the players that I used to see regularly. Not sure what happened. I'll have to go check out some of the clan web sites and see what's up. All I know is that I'm getting schooled every where I go. I wonder if everyone just changed their names? I've changed mine but I'm not happy with it. So I'm playing under RogueSpear right now. I don't know how long I'll stick with it.

Command & Conquer Generals

Haven't been playing for a while. I bought Command and Conquer Generals and it has been a destraction lately. Great graphics and everything. This was one of the first games that I really got into, back at it's first edition. I needed a break from UT for a while anyway. I'll be back at your nearest server soon though, keep watching...

Freeze Tag

# | posted: Tuesday, April 25, 2006 | updated: Tuesday, April 25, 2006

played a new Unreal Tournament game called freeze tag over on the USA servers. kind of fun. but there weren't that many of us. i'm sure it's a blast with more people.

object here is that you freeze when shot and only a team mate can thaw you with a teleporter. you only score when all players on one team are frozen. i'll be looking to play this game again.

and even found a new map that was cool as well called Ghetto something...

Welcome

Welcome to the Old UT Guy web site. I'll be posting my thoughts, comments and wonderings about Unreal Tournament. Mostly UT 2004. I'm currently playing under the name "stumpie" but have also used FragDawg and zZap as names in the past. I started calling myself stumpie due to the fact that I was getting fragged so much in the begginning and mostly was looking at the stump of a body left. I generally play sniper and camping maps, so look for me on those servers.

Anyway, welcome and enjoy. Feel free to comment. I plan on posting screen shots of games I'm playing and discuss the various game types and servers that I frequent online.

There is a coat rack, or something like that, by the door. On the back side of the rack, towards the wall, there is an elevator that will take you to the top. It's on the top of the base, a little to high to see unless you jump up.

1 write back

stumbled onto canon fodder's blog. i've seen him on a few maps from time to time - assuming it's the same canon fodder. anyway, his wife has a had a bad time last few days. thought that if anyone was reading, they could send some prayers their way.

I've been reading about UT 2007, sounds pretty cool. It's a brand new engine underneath. although the skaarj aren't in as well as the mini-gun. I love the mini-gun, but not as much as the sniper rifle. i will miss it though.

I wonder if i'll have to get new hardware to run it? Most Likely...

Battle for big tree map secret

# | posted: Saturday, February 25, 2006 | updated: Saturday, February 25, 2006

Here's a secret for the battle for big tree map. On the back side of the tree, opposite the house, there's an elevator to get up into the tree. But get there fast. Once someone gets inside the tree house, it's hard to get them out and get up in there.

How does he get so good?

# | posted: Saturday, February 25, 2006 | updated: Saturday, February 25, 2006

Ok, so [sSs]Joker has to be one of the better sniper players out there. He knows all the best hiding spots and all the secrets on every map. I get tired of my clock getting cleaned every time I go up against him.

Oh well, enough whining...

I wonder...

OK, so I'm playing on this server the other day, don't remember which one. I recognize a few of the players so decide to join in. I load up and see them chatting - a little smack talk. It quickly degenerates into Middle School level humor. They try to get me involved, but I ain't biting. So it kicks up a couple of notches.

It must just be me and the fact that I'm probably pretty older than most out there. But I just don't get it I guess. I'm there to play and compete. I'll talk a little smack and laugh with the others. But I won't denegrate people, just not my style. And why does it always have to end up in the gutter? What's the appeal? Who knows...
